Race #2 of the Double "I" CycloCross Experiment Series
Results here

We had 58 racers and 4 kids brave the cold temps for the Second Annual Old Towne Vande-Cross. The temps started at 34 but dropped down to 31 degrees with a 15 to 20 mph wind making it feel like 25, down to 19 degrees. Buurrrrr, I think winter is here!

I'd first like to thank the racers coming from everywhere to race this race! You made this a fun time!!

Second, I'd like to thank my volunteers that made this event possible; Lisa Wessling, Terry Burke, and Karen Schaar for registration. Scott Swanson, our FROZEN Official. Rick and Joan Wren, and Becky Bernard from the FORC Team, and Bruce Grell, Greg Aronson, Jeff Abel, Matt Klemish, Bill Monson, Gerry Voelliger, and Scot Schaar from the DICE Team, for course set-up and teardown. Also, Sean Walker and all of the Cutters with teardown help. The QCBC, Dr. Mike Giudici, and the DICE Team as our sponsors for the Double "I" CycloCross Experiment Series as well as this race.

In addition, I would like to thank Kim West and the Kim West Radio Cycling Show for the great review in his latest show, of which you can hear here. We had four great races, with some very close racing.

If I've messed anything up or miss spelled anything please let me know and I will get it corrected.

Don't forget the last two races of the series will be Psyclofest on Nov 22nd at Crowe Creek Park, Bettendorf, IA and Middle Park Madness, Bettendorf, IA.

Thanks a lot!

I would like to thank my volunteers Lisa Wessling and Jennifer Ainsworth for registration, Mike Desch as my starter, Bill Wiebel as my wrangler, Chief Rich Whalen as my left turn corner marshal, the Cordova Township Civic Center for the facilities, and Bob Lundberg for timing the event. I would also like to thank MATTS for the medals and T-shirts for raffle, Profile for the TT bars for raffle, Sigma for the bike computer for raffle, and Park Tools for the toolbox at the races.

Flyer updated May 28.

We will be having the Hummer Hammer Criterium on June 15th! I have attached the race flyer for your viewing pleasure. The course is a similar layout to what has been done in the past, using the "T" shaped boulevard style roads of the Iowa Research, Commerce and Technology Park. Directions and a mapquest link are on the flyer. Please come and join us for some fantastic racing on a tremendous course. If you have questions, please send me an email or give me a ring (563) 343-5932; squiddy13105 at yahoo.com. If you cannot reach me, call or email Jeff Abel (563)650-3770; redlineman10 at yahoo.com.

20K TT Results
Tuesday May 20, 2008 6:09PM

I would like to thank everyone for coming out this last Sunday for the Eighth Annual DICE 20K TT Championships. We had 51 people doing 54 rides, which was down from 113 last year. The weather was cool, sunny, and 55 degrees with a NW wind between 12 and 23 mph. Therefore, it must have been the gas prices keeping people from traveling. I'd like to thank my volunteers Lisa Wessling, Jennifer Ainsworth and Rebecca Carroll for doing registration, Dan Carroll for helping me with course set-up, Mike Desch as the starter, Frank Martin as the wrangler, Bill Minard as the holder, and Bob Lundberg as our official.

Despite having a windy day a new course record was set for the men with Bryce Mead from Jelly Belly coming down from Sterling, IL to set a blistering 25:18.42 with a speed of 29.47 mph and a pace of 2:02.2 min/mile, awesome job Bryce! Then he rode back to Sterling by bike! Paul Deninger held the previous course record at 26:13. The womens overall winner was Karen Stierler from Bike Tech coming over from Coralville, IA with a 31:29.81 and 23.67 mph, awesome job Karen!! The QCBC winners were John Grice with a 28:35.98 and Margaret Millar with a 37:05.06 great job you two!!
